July 27th

Because we haven't found a church yet to call "home", we've been having fun attending a variety of churches.  I've always wanted at to go a Mega church.  We saw Calvary Church while driving around one day in Charlotte.  So, today we went to it.  This is a picture of the Sanctuary which has one of the 5 largest pipe organs in the world.  They also have a Praise Band and a choir which is larger than the churches we've attended so far.  Attendance here is between 3,000 and 5,000 per Sunday, with a 20,000 membership.  The previous Sunday their attendance was 3018; their collection was $171,178 with a general fund weekly goal of $155,000.  Lots of big numbers here.
On a very serious note, the Pastor asked for prayers for the two missionaries who have contracted the Ebola virus in Liberia.  The female missionary is sponsored by this church.
This is a side view of the Sanctuary.  I have to tell you that we felt like we were attending a concert more than a church service.  The service was great, but just too big, so we'll keep looking.

And afterwards, lunch at Panera's in downtown Charlotte.

This is located in downtown Belmont.  What a great time we had here searching for mirrors, headboards, etc.  Unfortunately we didn't find anything we could use, but a fun afternoon.

And then to top off the day, we stopped at Sammy's for a delicious mojito, beer and nacho platter.  A good day!!!
