August 1st & 2nd

We spent the weekend with our long time friends, Pam & Bill Williams in Anderson, SC.  They invited us to come down and go to the mountains in Dillard, GA for the:

 

Needless to say, David was in Hog Heaven!!!  There were 40 B-B-Que entries in the cook off and then another group were in another competition for $$$ prizes.  Talking with some of these "chefs" we found out that they win thousands of dollars in prize money.  They travel all around the country for competitions.  Some of their B-B-Que cookers were pretty amazing.

For $5, you could choose 6 different B-B-Q samples (out of 18) and then rate them for 1 to 5.  We each tried 6 different ones.  Some were very tasty and some not.  David seems to enjoy all of them.

This was a husband and wife team who work together to create these cute little stuffed pumpkin decorations.  She made 500 for this event.  Her husband told me that wherever they go, she collects sticks and other outdoor "things" to use in her decorations on the pumpkins. Then he puts shellac or some other covering on each stick to make it "look good".  You'll see one in our home if you come visit us around Halloween.

This is an actual ice cream making machine.  The ice cream it makes is delicious!  I had homemade vanilla and peach; very tasty!
